My Favourite Time of Year | Blogtober 2016 | Me Becoming Mum

This is one of my favourite posts to write for #Blogtober16, as I get to talk about my favourite time of year... Which is, of course, Christmas!

Here are my top reasons for loving Christmas.

You get to take cute pictures of your children...

I love to send handmade cards every year to friends and family, and having children means that you can include them in the photos! We have some amazing photos from the last couple of years, including this gorgeous one that was used on our 2015 Christmas cards.

You get to bake for a purpose...

If you have read my Baking and Me post, you will know I love to bake. Our yearly Christmas eve parties always include a range of awesome makes from my chocolate reindeer sleigh to homemade mince pies.

You get to fill stockings...

I love buying and wrapping presents, for birthdays or otherwise. However stockings are exclusive to Christmas, and they are so much fun to put together. Often they will include socks; toothbrushes; some small chocolates; and other cheap filler items.
I have to say this cute picture is my favourite stocking filler yet!

You can wear silly (yet fun) clothing...

I love cracking out the amazing Christmas leggings, slippers, jumpers and other clothing items that I have in my collection. I may look like a muppet, but they are totally awesome.

I have most enjoyed this part of Christmas over the last couple of years as I have been able to dress my wee girl up too! Last year we went one step further and had matching outfits that my mum bought us!

You get to visit Santa...

This is obviously something we didn't do prior to having our girl, however it is now part of our Christmas traditions. This year should be even more fun as R has been 'calling' Santa to let him know that she's been good, and what we all would like for Christmas. I must point out - she did this completely out of the blue one morning, without any prompting from mummy or daddy. Made it even more cute!

You get to decorate the house...

We have always loved decorating our home with a lot of silver, white and blue ( because obviously it had to be Everton colours!) It is a whole different experience having a large house to decorate, and a child to involve. We go even crazier than we used to, even including lights on the external parts of our home.

If you're lucky you might get snow...

The last few years we have had snow at least once during the winter. It would be nice this year if it could wait until after Little L is safely delivered and we have returned home. I certainly don't want to be trapped having a home birth because snow makes it impossible to make it to the hospital!
