About Me Becoming Mum

After a conversation with a friend – who is also a mum and blogger – I decided to start a pregnancy, parenting and lifestyle blog. My blog contains everything from details of my parenting encounters to advice given from my personal experiences.

As a mum, I have found that it can, on occasion, be a very lonely experience. You can feel like you are the only one that certain things happen to. I hope that as you read my posts, you can garner a little comfort, and know you are not alone.

Every individual – both parent and child – is their own person, which makes each parenting experience different, and there is no ‘right’ way. However, I hope that for some, my blog will provide a little extra understanding into what to expect during pregnancy and afterwards as a parent.

My name is Naomi. I am in my late twenties and although in the past I worked as a retail manager for GAME Retail Ltd, I am now a full time mummy to my two beautiful daughters.

Being a mum means that I do not have much time for hobbies. Where I used to love a night out at the theater - or cinema - I now prefer a night in snuggled on the sofa with my hubby. Where I used to love horse riding, I now prefer to take my daughter to a local farm or zoo.

I do, however, continue to enjoy reading a wide variety of book genres. My favourite pass time is snuggling up with my toddler in front of a classic Disney movie. We also enjoy going swimming together, something she is finally getting the hang of!

Alongside my husband and my children, the other major part of my life is my business, Mama Naii's Crochet. I create handmade crochet gifts and keepsakes, mainly for babies and children. You can read more about Mama Naii's here on my site.

About My Husband

I have been with my husband John for over 8 years and we have been married for six years this year!

We married on a beautiful day in May 2011, surrounded my friends and family. I had the perfect day being a princess and have so many wonderful memories from the day and our honeymoon in Cyprus.

Most people are surprised (having seen my surname) to discover he too is white! They are further shocked by the fact he is ten years (and eighteen days) older than me, something that has never bothered me!

John works as a retail manager for a large fashion company, which is also where I met him. When he was younger he loved to play cricket, now he just likes to watch it. He is a true Toffee (Everton supporter) and even has our daughter loving it now. I'm usually in another room listening to them both shouting at the TV if there is a match on.

About Our Children

Our first baby was lost in August 2009, making us parents of an angel.

In February 2014 we then welcomed our first rainbow baby, who for the purpose of this blog will be referred to as, "R" or by her nickname, "Squidgy". She is such a massive part of our lives - as well as a massive healing to us after our loss.

She is a lively, happy soul who definitely brightens our days. She attends nursery a couple of times a week; but mostly spends her time with me - and loves everything from trips out to crafts in doors.

In December 2015, we unfortunately lost another baby. After trying for a sibling for our first born, it was one of the hardest times of our lives.

We were lucky though, that our second angel baby was not our last. In December 2016, we welcomed another rainbow baby, "Little L"! It was not an easy journey to her arrival, but we are so glad that she is now with us, safe and sound.

R is very excited to be a big sister - and we are so proud of how well she has accepted the change in our lives now that her little sister has joined us in the world.

So there you are, that is my family. If you would be interested in working with us, please visit my Work With Me page.

Please note, if you are interested in reading about our angels, I wrote a post about my angels for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, which you can read here.
