Nic's Biz Trio

Note from Naomi: Today's post is a guest post from Nic, a lovely lady I met recently through a wonderful group made up of fabulous small business owners. she has written a short post about the three (yes, three!) businesses that she runs from home.

Hi I'm Nic,

So... a bit about me.

I am a self confessed teddy collector. I love taking Poppy to go and get new ones (and clothes to match!) I also collect Disney Tsum Tsum vinyls and I love Lego. I love spending time with my family and dedicate weekends to them. Family time is important to me, so I am sorry if I am slow at answering emails and messages on Saturdays and Sundays.

I run 3 small businesses from my home. I live with my husband Hugh and daughter Poppy in The New Forest. My nickname is Kiti, which I was given at college after I purred when a friend was playing with my hair.

Created by Kiti

Created By Kiti is my sewing business. I sew by hand, and by machine, making cushions, name banners, rosettes/badges and I've just started making embroidered hoops. I also do seasonal goods as well. Not bad considering I was told to give up home economics at GCSE, and at A Level I was told to give up by my tutor as I was rubbish! I started sewing after I had had my daughter. I used to make cards and one Christmas I decided to hand-make a few decorations and I just never stopped. After years of making for friends and family I finally took the plunge and started my business this year.

Poppy Doodles Art

Poppy Doodles Art is my art page, named after my daughter. I draw in pencil, pen, paint and even on my iPad. I have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil, and after going through college and university I came to my style which is still developing everyday.  I use drawing all the time in my sewing, when I design a new badge or cushion. One morning my daughter asked me to draw her a unicorn and I haven't stopped since. I launched both pages at the same time.

Scallywag Face Painting

Scallywag Face Painting is my new business. I did a lot of face painting in my teens, mainly for Scouts' fetes. I decided to start again, and mainly paint Poppy and her friends, but will try to fit it in around family life. I have also started doing Henna, which I practice on my lovely friends.

Life is hectic and it is hard running three pages, but I'm always doodling ideas or pictures even if I'm not posting. I must get better at posting more regularly as my posts are like busses. No not big and red, it's just that they all come at once!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
