Today's photo for Donna's Living Arrows linkie of course has to be from our cruise on the Queen Elizabeth! We are having a fabulous time and I am sure that there will be plenty of posts about it when we are back but for now here is a taster!Read More
We were fortunate enough to be able to take a short break to the Lake District recently to stay in a caravan that my grandparents own there. While there we made a trip to a place that I have always wanted to go, and never had the opportunity to do so, The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction in Bowness. It was a fantastic day out, made even more so by the fact that I was able to share it with my first born daughter.Read More
“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”
Today's post isn't of my own children, instead I have a photo from a visit that we made to my friend and her two weeks young son!
I made him a blue giraffe and it looks so big next to him unlike the ones that my girls have, and I just thought it was too cute to not share!
I am so glad that I run Mama Naii's and that I am able to make items for people like gorgeous little Lucas!
When it comes to Father's Day, I always try to make an extra effort for my hubby. He after all makes a massive effort for me on Mother's Day, and our two rainbow babies are so special to us, that these days are ones we make sure we celebrate.Read More
Today's post for Donna's Linkie is from early on last week when my brother came to visit. We made a trip to Ferry Meadows (which is a place that if you read my "Getting Outdoors at Ferry Meadows" post, you will know we love!) and enjoyed the glorious afternoon sunshine together.Read More
When it comes to teething babies, there are so many products out there that help to make our lives as parents easier. However, this is not always a good thing as there are so many that sometimes it can be a little difficult to know what exactly we should be looking out for when it comes to choosing the best products. That is why I decided to write up this post, which covers off all the must have items that we have been using to help us out since Little L began to cut her first teeth.
Dribble Bibs (Lots of them!)
We have a large selection of dibble bibs that we used for Squidgy, but we have never really felt the need to put them on Little L. That is, until she started teething. Seriously though, the amount of drool and how wet her clothes were getting is quite insane really.
We have a lovely selection of bibs from Funky Giraffe Bibs* that I picked up whilst we were at the Baby Show in London a wee while ago. They are not only practical but they are some of the prettiest designs I have ever seen for a bib, and they look so cute on.
Sometimes you just need something to wipe away the tonnes of dribble that will inevitably be all over your baby's face. Some babies can dribble so badly while they are teething that they can be soaked all over their face, chin, neck and surrounding areas. Keeping a dry muslin square close by ensures that you have something soft to use to clean up all the drool!
I have a number of teething necklaces and they are all fabulous. I have a couple of gorgeous shorter ones from Bo and Bel, a rainbow one from Loopy Makes and of course the gorgeous monochrome one below from Little Magpies. The great thing about these necklaces is the fact that you wouldn't even know that they are designed for teething babes!
This may seem like an obvious choice to some people, but not everyone is keen on using teething gels. To be honest though, some times it is the only thing that will help Little L calm down. There are so many options available dependent on your child's age, the flavour you want to choice and even if you want to have a sugar free version!
Trying to apply it to her gums can be no mean feat however, which is where my next 'must have' comes in.
Matchstick Monkey *
This little monkey has become, without a shadow of a doubt, the only think (other than nappy changing stuff of course!) that we cannot ever leave the house without.
His little arms are the perfect width for Little L's fingers to grip and his head fits perfectly next to her gums without her choking on it; and even if we don't use him as a teething gel applicator (which is technically its purpose!) he has become just about the only thing that will stop the drooling, grumbling moment when my wee baby girls teeth are really giving her jip.
Ok, so this may seem like a really odd choice for a teething post, but believe me when I say that it is an important one! It will not be needed for every baby, but in the case of both of my children, whenever they teethe, they get some seriously bad nappy rash.
The fact that we use cloth nappies means that we do not often have to deal with nappy rash, it just doesn't seem to happen in cloth. Despite this, the sore, red marks do occasionally appear and it is a pretty good indication that our little one is teething.
When this happens we crack out our trusty Metanium (a nice yellow cream!) that helps to soothe the soreness and by the next nappy change we can guarentee that the cute little baby bum will be back to normal once more.
Amber Jewellery *
I don't think there is anything cuter than these beautiful Baltic Amber pieces from Love Amber X. We have a stunning necklace and anklet set, neither of which Little L seems too bothered about, however Squidgy loves them!
Amber has natural pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to the fact it contains succinite, which is absorbed through the skin whilst wearing it. This makes it the perfect product for helping a baby that is teething!
Of course, it is important to note that these pieces of jewellery are not toys, and do have small parts. Personally I don't think it's a good idea to leave any child unattended wearing them, especially if like me, you have an over zealous, "helpful" toddler who is bound to try and "help" but cause some sort of issue!
Brush Baby *
Brush Baby have a great selection of items available to help babies that are teething at all different stages and ages. The Brush Baby dental wipes have been invaluable for us, and Little L absolutely loves the fact that she has freedom to chew on John or my fingers, something that she often tries to do whenever our hands are close enough for her to grab!
Disclaimer: Although this post is written of my own volition, some of the products I have been sent for the purpose of testing them out for review. These products are highlighted by the use of an asterisk (*) beside them.
Last week something terrible happened in Manchester that shocked the world, and I was one of those parents that looked at my children and felt my heart pang for all those who wouldn't have their children returning home that day.Read More
Bath time is always a fun activity in our house, but of course, it isn't just a game, it is also meant to be constructive. There are a number of items that we keep close by for bath time for both keeping my girls entertained and also making sure they get clean and dry by the end of the process. We absolutely love bath time in our house, but there are a few items that we would not have the same experience without, and that it what this post is all about!Read More
We had such a fabulous time when we were at Stocks Farmhouse and Wood, there was no end of things to see and do while we were there, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves from the smallest member of our family, Little L, to the biggest, daddy! We couldn't wait to slip on a pair of wellies each and go exploring with my uncle and cousin.Read More
Many of you who follow me on social media may have noticed that we were on holiday last week. We had a fabulous time away as a family at my grandparent's caravan in the Lake District and although the weather was not as great as we would have liked it to be every day, we did have a few moments of dry weather to enjoy the scenery outside.Read More
One of the things that I promised myself (and my family) this year, was that we would get outside more. The idea is to enjoy being together, get some fresh air and stay healthy. As part of this promise, we have been making trips to our local park, Ferry Meadows, once a week when John is off work, regardless of the weather.Read More
Today marks six years of being married to the love of my life, John. He had been my rock and support through some very difficult times, and had given me so much joy throughout the years. I still can't quite believe that we have actually been married for six years, in many ways it feels like the day we married was only yesterday (but don't get me wrong, sometimes it feels as though we've been together forever!) I am so lucky to have John in my life, as my husband and also as the father to our two beautiful daughters. Today, I am writing a letter to my husband as we celebrate these six years of marriage.Read More
My daughter has managed to inherit my deep set love for all things Disney. We are, of course, forever going to love the traditional classics, but thanks to the Disney Junior channel we have on our Sky box, Squidgy's world has been opened up to a whole world of new and modern Disney from The Lion Guard to Sofia the First. Whether it is watching movies or TV programmes, or reading books or picking out cards for friends and family members' birthdays, she always gravitates towards the Disney ones.Read More
