Labelling for Back to School | Raw Labels Review | Me Becoming Mum

One of the biggest worries after spending a small fortune on your child's school uniform is that the minute they take a cardigan, jumper (or other items that all the children have) off, they will go missing; picked up unintentionally by another child thinking it's theirs.

Back to school
Labelling their uniform, shoes and PE kit is so important. Labels are likely to be put through their paces, so it's great to know Raw Labels labels are removable yet hardwearing, resistant to being put through the wash; as well as fridge, microwave and dishwasher making them perfect for everything from clothes to lunchboxes. Here you'll find my review of their range showing you just how simple it is to make sure your children don't lose a thing, from their first day of school to their last.

Raw Labels name label range

The range that Raw Labels offer come in not only different sizes, but they also offer everything from stickers to iron-on labels. Most of the labels allow you to choose from 23 different coloured backgrounds ensuring they are easily identifiable to your child during the school day; then customise them with 6 different font colours 18 different font styles. The best part (especially from Squidgy's point of view!) is that you can choose from 78 different characters including animals, birds, sea and space.

Large name labels

The first labels we recieved were Raw Label's large name labels. They are 50 x 18mm size, which means they are perfect for lunchboxes, pencil cases, drinks bottles and more. Even with a personalised lunchbox, pencil case and more I feel it is still important to have a name label on anything Squidgy takes to school; just in case there are other students with the same or similar name. Prices start at just £4.60 for 15 labels, which is one of the cheapest prices online.

Medium name labels

Next we have a selection of Raw Label's medium name labels, which measure 50 x 6mm. I used these to label most of Squidgy's uniform as they fit perfectly on clothing labels such as the brand label and care label. They are also the perfect size for pens, pencils, toothbrushes and even sunglasses.

With a variety of safari animals on them as her chosen character, these are definately perfect for her. This is especially true considering within the selection of animals included is her best-loved animal: the giraffe. These are only £4.90 for 27 labels, an absolute bargain considering that works out at just 18p per label. Considering the price of Squidgy's uniform, I know it is worth buying these labels.

Small name labels

Raw Label's small name labels are slightly different to the others above. Measuring just 25 x 9mm, they without the inclusion of the characters available on the other labels. There're also slightly less variations available, with only 20 different background choices; however you have the same font colours and styles to choose from. I found the small name labels perfect for popping onto the bag tags for Squidgy's PE Kit bag, rucksack and more as these are smaller spots but still need to have her name on. These work out slightly more expensive at £3.50 for 12 labels, but open the options for labelling so many more of your children's school gear.

Shoe name labels

Squidgy's favourite name label within the range by far has to be Raw Label's shoe name labels. Unsurprisingly shoes are one of the most common school items to get mixed up, with many places (like Squidgy's old preschool) having a "shoes off indoors" policy encouraging the children to instead wear slippers. Not only do these shoes name labels allow Squidgy to know which ones are hers, but the shape allows her to easily identify which foot she should be putting the shoe on to.

From a parent's point of view, the fact that Raw Labels coat these shoe name labels with a special laminate, to ensure they’re durable, scuff-proof, and also waterproof means these labels couldn't be more perfect. They are designed to withstand any activity your children get up to. Plus at £3.90 for 6 pairs, they are half the price (or more in some cases!) of similar products available online.

Iron-on labels

On the site, there are also Raw Label's iron on name labels to consider. Measuring 50 x 12 mm in length, they are easily identifiable without being too big and gaudy. They are so simple to apply too, using a household iron and baking paper which comes with your order. Unlike the sticker name labels above, however, once you have applied these iron-on labels they cannot be removed. This means it's probably a good idea to avoid them if you want the school uniform to be able to be used by future generations of your family.

With prices from £3.70 for 12 labels they are some of the cheapest iron on names labels available (I checked!) and they look great too. They also offer smaller (even cheaper!) versions, if you prefer to use labels without the characters or just need a label that fits to a narrower, smaller tag.

With so many options to choose from, you are bound to find the right labels for you at Raw Labels. The best part is that shipping is always free, even outside of the U.K. and they ship within 24 hours of ordering. Finally, if you use the code KNE15 when placing an order you’ll receive a 15% discount! Be sure to visit their website and make your order, ready for the new school year to start.
