I have always loved to bake, and Squidgy is forever asking to "help" in the kitchen, despite the fact that for a long time she has been too small to do anything except make a mess. Now that she is a little older, I decided that she was more capable of actually being a help rather than hindrance, and so when we had the opportunity to try out the cookie kit from What2Buy4Kids, it was a no brainer that we would get our bake on.

The kit came beautifully packaged and in Squidgy's favourite colours, pink and purple. She was so excited (despite the fact that she looks like she is grimacing instead of smiling in the picture after she received it!) and when I told her that we would be baking together she literally did a happy dance! We followed the recipe that was included in the set to make a batch of gingerbread cookies and they were lush!

Having her very own mixing bowl, and plastic spoon meant that she doesn't need to steal borrow mine! Two reasons why this is a good thing?

1. They are the perfect size for little hands to use, without the bowl being too big, or the spoon handle being too long.

2. Being the right size means a whole lot less mess was involved, especially when it came to the epic over zealous mixing that took place during the cooking dough making process!

Once she had mixed the dough together, she immediately picked up her mini rolling pin and gave rolling it out a good go. Unfortunately she doesn't quite have the strength in her little arms just yet, so I had to give her a bit of a hand (with my own rolling pin of course, my hands are way too big to use hers!) Next step was obviously to cut out the shapes of butterflies and hearts using the cutters included in the kit, which she had no problem doing! Once we had baked them in the oven and let them cool a little, she of course told me she had to "test" one (or more!) out, and between the two of us we polished off half the batch before she told me we need to save some for daddy!

She was so proud of the fact that she made them herself, with a little help from me and her very own baking gear. I love that she enjoyed it so much, and I know that it won't be long before she will be at it again, twisting my arm to convince me to do some more baking! I don't mind though, because she is so cute when she is in a good mood, and post spending time with mummy doing something she loves such as baking, she is always in a good mood! So here she is, holding a plate full of homemade cookies, that she made herself.

You can get your own wee one their very own awesome Little Pals cookie baking set from the What2Buy4Kids website!
