Four Course Dinner for Two | Zizzi

Disclaimer: I was provided a voucher by Red Letter Days to check out Zizzi's four course dinner with prosecco and wine. The following review and opinions are my own. All photos are copyright property of Me Becoming Mum.

This year we celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary. When I was looking for anniversary gifts this year, I decided a Red Letter Days voucher was the perfect choice. With the girls at my parent's for a sleepover, John and I were able to enjoy the Zizzi restaurant's four course dinner with prosecco and wine... the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary, years of being in love and some child-free time together.

Zizzi's Celebrazione set menu

What does the Red Letter Days voucher include?

The voucher Zizzi has available with Red Letter Days is for a set menu, which you are given when you arrive (so long as you remember to tell them you're using the voucher!) Just because you have a set menu doesn't mean you can't order extras, however... just remember if you fancy a cocktail or more on top you will need to pay for them.

You are provided nuts and olives on arrival plus a glass of prosecco. You can then choose from a range of starters, mains and desserts. Finally to complete the voucher choices, Zizzi offer a glass of house red or house white wine during the meal.

What's on the Zizzi menu?

Despite not being the full menu, there is still plenty of choice available with you or Red Letter Days voucher; from Zizzi pizza to pasta to chicken dishes.

The starters

The Zizzi menu is full of Italian dishes and even the smaller Celebrazione menu is still chocked full of Italian goodness. John settled on Mushroom Brindisi; a dish of mushrooms and melted mozerella on slices of bake Zizzi dough (similar to ciabatta!) I chose Bufala Caprese; a mix of tomatoes (look at the amazing colours!) red onion, mozzarella, balsamic pearls (these were not something I had tried before but definitely complemented the dish!) & fresh basil. Both were decent size portions and very much enjoyed.

The mains

From Zizzi pizza to Italian chicken dishes there was plenty to choose from when it came to the mains. John went for one of his favourite cuts of meat, choosing Pork Belly Arrosto. The dish included mashed potatoes and long stem broccoli and his favourite finishing touch: crackling! I decided to try out the Pollo Prosciutto; a chicken breast wrapped in prosciutto ham, herby potatoes and green beans. I was really impressed with both the portion sizes and the taste, although I did feel my potatoes were drowning in the sauce which I guess is down to personal preference.

The deserts

If you’re going to an Italian restaurant like Zizzi, then it’s surely all about the gelato and Tiramisu right? I am not a fan of coffee (in fact I can’t stand the stuff!) unlike John who practically inhales the stuff. This obviously means the Tiramisu was his, and he loved it. For a guy who usually takes a whole lot longer than me to eat he ate the whole lot almost before I finished taking photos of my own desert. I went for the Chocolate Melt which although small lived up to expectations with its super gooey centre and scoop of delicious vanilla gelato to boot.

Drinks

The drinks available with the Red Letter Days voucher are a glass of prosecco on arrival (which was a lovely, bubbly choice to start!) and your choice of red or white house wine during your meal. We were asked when we would like the wine to arrive and we made the decision to have it with our mains. We also ordered a soft drink to share and I had a cocktail whilst John enjoyed a pear cider. These extras we had to pay for ourselves but if you want to stick to what the voucher includes you can order tap water instead.

Inside the restaurant

An open kitchen

I love the Zizzi restaurants have an open kitchen which allows you to see your food being prepared and on its way over to your table. I always feel a little less anxious about how my food has been made and what happens in the kitchen when I can see it all from my table!

Artistry on the walls

I absolutely loved the interior of Zizzi Watford. Bright colours, fun murals, poems and more adorned the walls and made it feel bright, airy and fun. It makes such a difference to your dining experience, and John and I both enjoyed sitting amongst it all.

The bar

Whether you drink alcohol or opt for mocktails and other soft drinks, Zizzi restaurants have plenty of choice. The bar looks awesome with the bucket wall shelving and Zizzi name in corks, and is full stocked with a variety of drinks to suit everyone’s taste buds. They also offer a variety of hot drinks, the perfect way to end any meal.

Choosing a Red Letter Days experience

There are gifts suitable for everyone

If you're looking for an anniversary gift to suit couples celebrating their wedding anniversary, you can't go wrong with a Red Letter Days voucher. If Zizzi restaurants aren't your thing, there are so many other choices from adrenile fueled experience days to romantic nights away and even Red Letter Days London theatre packages.

Using the Red Letter Days voucher

Redeeming a Red Letter Days voucher is simple, whether you have a printed one sent through the post or an e-voucher emailed directly to you. The instructions are all on the voucher itself. All you have to do is visit redletterdays.co.uk/redeem and enter your details. You will then be told where you can use you voucher as well as provided with any telephone numbers and codes you may need to book your experience. To use our voucher Zizzi needed a code which was generated when I redeemed my voucher online, so make sure you double check before heading off to your destination.

However many years you have been married, I think it is important to remember to still take time out to celebrate as a couple. If you're looking for wedding anniversary gifts, I think that a Red Letter Days voucher is the perfect way to ensure you get that time.

Happy anniversary John, thank you for putting up with me all these years. I love you always and forever.
