I've shared gifts for him, gifts for her and gifts for 5 year olds which means there can only be one Christmas gift guide left… gifts for three year olds! Pickle is quite hard to buy for thanks to mostly having hand-me-downs from Squidgy (including clothes and toys!) but it's only fair she gets some gifts herself.

This year I am doing my Christmas gift guides a little differently. You may have already noticed this year my gift guides are based around the “7 Gifts” idea. Read on to discover what the “7 Gifts” idea is, and 2019's top picks for Christmas gift ideas for 3 year olds in each category.

What is the "7 Gifts" idea?

Ever feel like your house is full of stuff? That's where the “7 Gifts" idea comes in.

The “7 Gifts” idea will help you not only cut out waste; but also prioritise gift buying to be more needed and useful items. The image below details the seven categories of the “7 Gifts” idea. (Feel free to pin it to Pinterest and share with friends and family!)

The "7 Gifts" Idea

Something they need

Pyjamas (personalised for the win!)

For some reason, despite all the hand-me-downs Pickle has from when Squidgy was her age she doesn’t have many pyjamas! That makes pyjamas the perfect gift for children like her this Christmas. The best part about these Sonality pyjamas* is not just that they're Christmas themed but they can be personalised too! I absolutely love them, and so does Pickle (who has wanted to wear them every night since receiving them.) Although I don't know if she's been wonderful or more often lived up to her nickname this year, haha!

Something they want

Baby Shark singing puppet*

WowWee offer some amazing toys from Fingerlings to Pixie Belles but did you know they also have this awesome Baby Shark singing puppet toy*? You can pick it up at Smyths, The Entertainer and Amazon† plus it's available as Daddy, Mummy and baby shark! Not only does it sing Baby Shark (a firm favourite with most three year olds), but the movement of the puppets mouth adjusts the tempo too. Definitely up there as a pretty awesome Christmas gift idea for children this year.

Baby Born Surprise*

Who doesn't love Zapf Creation's Baby Born products? Well now they've released these amazing Baby Born Surprise*! Inside you'll find one of 12 different doll designs from a purple unicorn to a pink butterfly. The two my girls have couldn’t have been more suited to each of them (right down to being their favourite colours, I couldn’t have planned it better it if I tried… and they’re a complete surprise!).
They loved the fact you wash the doll's face to discover their eye colour; that the nappies can go from white to patterned with just a drop or two of water; and that they come not only with their little sleeping bag cocoon but also different hair dos and baby bottle. They are certainly a Christmas gift idea for children winner. These Baby Born Surprise cocoon can be purchased at a variety of places including Amazon† (as with most things!) or if you prefer to head to a store why not try your local Argos or Smyths?

Something to wear

Bright, colourful leggings

Is there really anything better than a comfy pair of leggings? No? Well try a pair from Love Leggings*. They are by the far the nicest, comfiest leggings I've had for me and for the girls. They come in bright, bold colours; are lined and cosy; plus you can even purchase some for yourself so that you and your children can be twinning in Love Leggings beauts.

Something to read

Who Do I See in the Mirror?

Reading together is something that both my girls have loved to do with me since they were young. Pickle in particular is always asking for snuggles and a book, making a book like Philly and Friends’ Who Do I See in the Mirror* the perfect gift for young children this Christmas. With a great purpose behind the writing of the book (teaching children to love themselves as they are, and reminding them-and us- we are more than our appearance!) this book also comes with beautiful illustrations as well as a certificate at the end perfect for hanging on the wall.

Something to do

A new game

I love trying to encourage our girls to try new things, from puzzles to games. Anything to reduce the screen time they have and encourage development and learning through fun. Why not check out Jumbo Games who have an amazing range of games ideal for children of all ages, like Colour Chameleon* which I picked out for Pickle!

Stamp set

Squidgy and Pickle can't be the only children to love arts and crafts, right? The latest thing they have discovered an excitement for is stamps with coloured ink. If you shop around you're bound to find a variety of options from Baker Ross foam Christmas stamps† to Rico Design wooden Christmas stamps†. Maybe an apron would be a great additional gift and don't forget a table cloth. Trust me… stamping can get quite messy!

Something for me

A toy they collect

When I was younger I collected Sylvanian Families. Now my niece collects them, and Pickle too has fallen in love with them. I adore this Christmas Gingerbread Playhouse* and it's the perfect gift for anyone who loves Sylvanian Families. The best part is, when it's not being played with it makes a great Christmas decoration. Grab this playst from Smyths, Argos and even Amazon†.

1:1 time

To be fair, this is a gift which could apply to children of any age, but especially for children like Pickle who are not the eldest in the family. I remember how Squidgy and I would go for walks, shopping trips, park visits and more when it was just the two of us. As our family has grown it's not often Pickle gets to do the same sort of things; at least not without her sister in tow too! The 1:1 time is so important, so whether you give them a ticket to something you can do together, or make your own ‘voucher valid for…’ and pick an activity, this is a great Christmas gift idea this year.

Something for family

Pacmat

It's maybe a bit out of season but an Ordnance Survey Lake District picnic rug* is great as a Christmas gift for children to explore even if you're just setting up an indoor teddy bear's picnic. Ours is in the car and until the picnic season returns in 2020 is likely to only be used for games or in an emergency (great for not sitting on the cold floor if you car breaks down!) The best part is the girls can spot places we recognise, visit and even the area we live on this one! There are other maps available too, so why not see if your hometown is on a picnic rug for your family?

So that marks the final of 2019's Christmas gift guides… I hope I've given you some great inspiration for gifts for three year olds and the rest of the family too.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from my family and me this year!
