With Pickle turning two just a few days before Christmas, it could be easy to just split the gifts between the occasions. However we don't think that is fair, especially as her sister has separate birthday gifts. Instead we have come up with some budget-friendly ideas to give her as Christmas gifts this year. Here are a few of my top picks for Christmas gifts for two year olds this year.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Everything is better in your pyjamas.

Pyjamas

Christmas is in the middle of the dark, cold months of Winter, and there is definitely nothing better than curling up with a book and a hot mug of cocoa in some cosy pyjamas. So what could be a better gift this Christmas than some lovely new jammies? We got a whole family collection from the new Primark range of tartan reindeer pyjamas and they are not only super cute but oh so comfy too.

Home is where your slippers are.

Slippers

My girls are notorious for always have cold feet but never keeping on their tights or socks. The first thing they do when they get home is take them off. Investing in a pair of comfy slippers (in particular some like these tartan boot ones I bought in Primark that are harder to get off!) is a great gift idea for children this Christmas. They look good, my girls love putting them on and they are there to ensure your children's feet don't get chilly!

Happiness is a nice, warm bath and a soft towel.

Kit & Kin for baby

I love our bedtime routine, especially when it means that the girls get to enjoy one of my favourite relaxing pass times… a warm bubble bath. The girls absolutely love a good bath, and with one of Pickle's favourite words being, 'bubbles' what could be a better Christmas gift for children than bath time products? The fabulous Kit & Kin skincare range* is the brain child of Spice Girl Emma Bunton, designed to care and protect your family's skin from childhood and beyond. The best part for me is she helped develop it based on her own personal experience as her son has eczema and she wanted chemical free, safe to use products for him.

So many toys, so little time!

Pull-along toys

Pull along toys often double up as some thing else too... we have the Fisher-Price chatter telephone† (didn't we all have one when we were younger?!) that is Pickle’s all time favourite… and we used to have a dog that sang the alphabet as it was pulled along too. Another of Pickle's favourites, is the animal shapes lorry† pull-along toy. It is a shape sorter and now she's getting the hang of pushing toys through the right holes she loves it!

Elf sloth

In my opinion you can never have too many soft toys, but just in case you can we always have a clear out at this time of year and sell or donate ones that the girls no longer need or want. This makes room for some special new ones including this awesome Keel Toys Sloth elf* from Clintons. I love all things Christmas and now that my girls have caught the Christmas bug, there is no better Christmas gift for children than a Christmas themed one!

Role-play doctor's kit

Pickle is nigh on obsessed with all things doctor related at the moment. She loves Get Well Soon with Dr Ranj and is forever giving us all (including her teddies!) check ups. Problem is the medical kit she used is her sister's so can cause all kind of upset. That's why we picked out the Peppa Pig medical carry case† (combining two of her favourite things!) when shopping in Smyths Toys. It is bound to make a perfect Christmas gift for any child this year!

Count with Peppa

Sticking with the Peppa Pig theme as Pickle is a big fan, the next Christmas gift idea for children is Count with Peppa*. We were sent this to review and I have been so impressed with how much Pickle has learnt, from songs to numbers and colours and so much more. As far as Christmas gifts go it may be loud (and slightly annoying at times... especially 2am!) but it couldn't be more perfect. It is bright, fun and of course educational too. Most importantly it is budget friendly and available in so many places including Argos, John Lewis, Amazon† and more. See my full review here.

Painting is an important part of self-discovery.

Finger paints

I am not a big fan of mess, but I really believe that messy play and painting are such an important part of a child's learning and development. That is why picking out a Christmas gift for toddlers like Pickle such as the Colour Peps My First Painting Finger Paints* is a great choice this Christmas. They come in four super bright colours and are dermatologically tested to ensure they are safe for use by younger children!

You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.

Personalised story time

I love books, especially books I can read on my own and have always enjoyed getting books for Christmas. The type of books I can dive into the story and immerse myself in are my favourite and my girls are no different. They may not know quite how to read just yet but they love to try! With a personalised story from Chapterful* where the character is  Pickle, we can really enjoy every second of reading the book together.

I hope you now have some amazing Christmas gift ideas for two year olds and other toddlers. Good luck with your Christmas shopping ahead of the big day which is going to be here before you know it!

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from my family and me this year!
