Free Projects with Lovecrafts | Mama Naii's Crochet

Disclaimer: I was sent a selection of items from yarn to tools in return for coverage of their free patterns. The review words and opinions are my own. All photos are copyright property of Me Becoming Mum.

When I was approached by Lovecrafts to work with them on a collaboration to promote their FREE online patterns, I couldn’t have been happier. This is a combination of all the things I love… my blog, creating things for my children and of course, crochet. Read on to discover a little about the free patterns I have created, as well as items they have available on their site fullfilling all your crafting needs to create beautiful items from their free patterns.

Getting creative with free patterns

Amigurumi (soft toys)

Making a baby penguin for Pickle

Pattern by: Mélanie de la Fabrique des Songes

About the pattern: It was super easy to follow, mostly working in the round with the occasional increase or decrease. It required just a few colour changes to get the effect of the black head, white around the eyes and grey body. This pattern is not only free, but perfect for beginners.

As you can see, Pickle absolutely adores her new penguin and it is pride of place on her bed with her other penguins… getting cuddles every night!

Making Amelia the Giraffe for Squidgy

Pattern by: Carolyne Brodie

About the pattern: Whilst I found it easy to follow, this pattern is definitely more of an intermediate to advanced pattern. It is free, and turns out well but isn’t for the faint hearted and takes a fair bit of sewing together!

Despite the extra work required to put this one together it was definitely worth it for the smile on Squidgy's face and the love that she gives it every day.

Blankets

Textured Stripes Baby Blanket

Pattern by: NaNette M. Seale Via Yarnspirations

About the pattern: Unlike amigurumi, blankets take me a little longer to work up (especially when we have a heat wave… I don’t fancy sitting beneath a wool blanket to work in 30 degree heat!) As such, I am still working on this blanket, however I am loving it!

I have decided that this one will make the perfect gift for my brother and his sure to be beautiful baby when they make their appearance earthside.

Miscellaneous makes

Making mask mates for retailers

Pattern by: Sue Burgess

About the pattern: This is a pattern that works up so quickly, and uses very little yarn. This makes it a perfect scrap buster!

The world has changed so much thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, and after masks became compulsory in so many settings, mask mates have become something I make a lot of. I have made them for friends, family and colleagues; in loads of different colours and I'm so pleased that I’ve been able to make something to help brighten the current weird world we live in just a little.

Crochet rainbows for lockdown rainbow trails

Pattern by: Kerry Jayne Designs

About the pattern: This pattern was super easy and fast to work up, and I made multiple rainbows for friends, family and of course us. After all, rhe mask mates weren’t the only make I’ve created with Lovecrafts free patterns inspired by the recent pandemic.

These rainbows have hung in people's windows throughout the 2020 UK lockdown. My own crochet rainbow was hung alongside colouring pages from my children. While the colouring pages faded, the rainbow still hangs bright as ever at the front of our home.
