I have always found the youngest members of my family hardest to find gifts for. With a house full to the brim of toys, clothes and other things that can be handed down it’s not easy to find suitable gifts. I have a few ideas though, so read on to discover my top 2021 gift ideas for you youngest family members; from newborn babies to toddlers.

The rule of 7

With a house full of “stuff”, (and of course the fact that we are renovating our new house), we are limited in what we have to spend this year. The rule of 7 is the best way to work to a tight budget, as well as limit and prioritise gifts within the following gift groups:

For toddlers

Something they want

A Trike

This is the next best thing to a bike - which is what Munchkin wants after seeing others using them! At just over a year and a half he's not quite ready for a bike yet, however a TP 4-in-1 trike* is a great alternative. Plus, if you're quick, TP toys currently have a sale on - the perfect time to get your Christmas shopping under way.

Something they need

A nap mat

These nap mats from Bloomsbury Mill* are absolutely fabulous. They are designed to be the ultimate all-in-one nap mat for nursery, sleepovers and more, with a padded base, removable pillow and cover included. Plus, you can personalise the name tag, in addition to being able to roll it up and use the carry handle to easily transport it from place to place and use it wherever you go.
They're suitable for babies and children up to around age 6; are easy to care for; washable at 40°; and they come in four gorgeous designs; including the Winter Wonderland fabric that Munchkin is very much in love with. The best part is, you can also pick one up on Amazon† and have it delivered straight to your door in time for Christmas.

Something to wear

Clothes from Frugi* will always be a winner in my book. They are gorgeous, they feel fabulous, they are well (and ethically!) made, they’re a UK business and everything about the brand and their products makes them the perfect place to shop for Christmas gifts this year. They have something for every baby, toddler, boy, girl - and even adults. You literally can’t go wrong (and I cannot tell you how much I love seeing my children wearing their Frugi outfits!)

Something to read

Christmas touch and feel books

The ‘That’s not my’ series of books from Usborne are some of the most loved books in my home - and they are our go to when it comes to selecting Christmas gifts for nieces, nephews and other children whether we are buying birthday or Christmas gifts. This year, why not pick up a book from their ‘Thats Not My’ Christmas Collection? There are such cute inclusions in the series and you can even get the full set from That’s Not My Santa to That’s Not my Reindeer as a box set on Amazon†!

Something to do

DUPLO

This year we decided that all of our children could have something to build this Christmas. Whilst we bought some LEGO Friends playsets for his older sisters, we decided to pick the LEGO DUPLO Space Shuttle Rocket for Munchkin. He is currently very much into all things dinosaur, space and tractor related so I’m pretty sure that we are going to be onto a winner with this one. It’s not too badly prices as far as LEGO sets go, and it’s available on Amazon† too, so it’s nice and easy to pick it out and get it delivered in time for Christmas.

For babies

Something to wear

We are lucky enough to have quite a lot of gorgeous Frugi* clothing for Peanut as she is baby number four and is the one who gets all the gorgeous hand-me-downs from her older siblings. That being said, it’s only fair she gets a new one too! Part of Frugi’s new Christmas collection this year is this stunning kimono set and honestly it is one of the cutest things we have ever owned and I love it. I mean, look at her! Who wouldn’t love it. The design is unisex so would look great on any baby, but for me it had to be finished off with a gorgeous polar bear bow to match the design of the outfit itself. You don’t get much cuter than a smiley baby in a gorgeous seasonal outfit at Christmas.

Something to do

Activity cubes and more

Let's be honest, most babies are quite happy doing nothing but simply watching the twinkling lights - I know Peanut is! If you want to try gifting them something they may enjoy just as much, why not take a look for a baby gym, play mat or activity cube? There are plenty of options available, but I have to say my favourite will always be the wooden options like the Nuby Wooden Activity Gym† and TOP BRIGHT 5-in-1 Wooden Activity Cube†.

Handmade gifts

There really is no better gift than a handmade one. These gifts contain all the love and hard work of someone making it! Whether you buy from a small business (I myself run Mama Naii's Crochet; when I'm not on maternity leave!) or choose to use your skills such as crafting, crochet, sewing and more to make a gift this year you're on to a winner. It's not a cheap cop out, it's a precious keepsake and worth every second of your time.

So that marks the final of 2021's Christmas gift guides… I hope I've given you some great inspiration for gifts for both the toddlers and the babies in your family on from their first Christmas and beyond.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from my family and me this year!
