When it comes to children, there is a lot that you will need to prepare yourself. The new Smyths' Baby Room catalogue, is a great place to start, covering so many different areas of parenting from car seats to toys. Here are my thoughts on the catalogue, and some top picks for things you’ll need as a parent.

The Smyths Toys Baby Room Catalogue

You don’t need a teeny, tiny baby to be able to appreciate this magazine. Here are my top reasons for loving the Baby Room catalogue.

  • It’s online. In a society where we a) have way too much waste and b) spend a lot more time online than out in stores, it is great to be able to visit the website and view the catalogue online.

  • It is easy to navigate. All you have to do is select the page overview and navigate quickly from one area to another without needing to scroll though to find what you need.

  • There’s a store list. If you want to get hands on with the products you want to buy, the catalogue includes a list of all their stores so you can check where you nearest one is.

Top picks for babies

Four things you need for a new baby

1.  Car seat

With specialists now recommending that your child remain in a rear facing car seat until they are at least two, it is important to make sure that you pick out the right car seat, especially if you want to save money in the long run. Choosing the best rear facing car seat for your child is easy, especially if you flip through to page 22 of the Smyths Toys Baby Room catalogue. There is plenty of information about each seat, easy to spot prices and they even offer a free car seat fitting service at their stores.

2. A stroller (or travel system)

Smyths Toys Superstores actually sell the Doona which I have to say was my favourite find when we had Pickle. It's a car seat that folds out into a pushchair! If you're looking for something a bit more long term though, Smyths have a range of different options on the first few pages of their Baby Room catalogue.

3. A baby carrier

This will always be one of my top picks for parenting. Whether you need to be hands free to complete chores with a baby who won't be put down, or you have other children you need to chase, baby carriers make a world of difference. Smyths Toys' Baby Room catalogue has got you covered, simply flick through to page 33.

4. A night light

Night lights are a must. They can ward aware those night time monsters and prevent trips on the way in for midnight feeds and nappy changes. We absolutely love the Gro Egg and Gro Clock which are both available on page 46 of Smyths' new Baby Room catalogue.

Top picks for toddlers

Three things you need for a toddler

1. A sit up seat

As they grow up and begin to explore, being able to pin them down make your life a bit easier. We had the Fisher-Price Infant-to-Toddler Rocker and Pickle loved it. You can find this and other awesome seat and jumperoo choices on Smyths Toy's Baby Room catalogue pages 63-67.

2. Toys

As your baby turns into a toddler it's a good idea for you to have a selection of toys. There is a wide range available in the Smyths Toys Baby Room catalogue including educational and developmental toys; perfect for growing toddlers. For example, we reviewed the Big Steps Play Write 'n' Learn Drawing Board for Smyths which you can find on page 79 of the catalogue.

3. Garden gear

Reducing screen time is something that we are all more aware of now as parents. From swings and playhouses to slides and ride on toys, there is something suitable for every child in the Smyths Toys Baby Room catalogue.

I was really impressed with the new Baby Room catalogue from Smyths Toys Superstores. There are so many different products available for all different ages. You can be sure when you flick through it, you will have every area of your parenting journey covered.
