Romantic Night Away | Red Letter Days Voucher Idea | Me Becoming Mum

Disclaimer: I was provided a voucher by Red Letter Days UK to check out perfect Mother's Day Gift ideas. The following review and opinions are my own. All photos are copyright property of Me Becoming Mum.

Choosing Mother's day gifts to share with you this year I decided to focus on the fact that even mamas need a break. It's so easy as a mum for you to loose your own identity. On the school run I'm " Squidgy's mum", at home I'm "muuuuuuum. Mummmyyyyy. MAMA!" Yet somewhere in there I'm Naomi. I'm me. I'm more than a mama. Red Letter Days UK offer a massive range of experience days that make perfect Mother's Day gifts, and give us mamas the chance to take a break too.

Choosing your experience days

Every mama needs to take a break

If you're looking to buy a gift for Mother's Day 2019, you definitely can't go wrong with a Red Letter Days voucher. From dining out to pampering days to short breaks there is something for everyone available on their website. The best thing about Red Letter Days UK, is the fact they offer experiences to suit every budget. For example, treat your mum to afternoon tea from just £19, or take her out for a lovely meal and West End show from £99? For me, I decided a romantic night away was just what I needed to relax, unwind and reboot.

Using the Red Letter Days voucher

Whether you choose to have an e-voucher or a physical voucher, the Red Letter Days redeem process is so easy. Even the vouchers themselves come with steps to follow so you can't go wrong! Once you're on the website, most experience days (excluding vouchers for specific destinations) allow you to choose where you want to go. Red Letter Days UK have so many fabulous partner locations, so matter where you are in the UK you can find a place to take a break nearby.

Our romantic night away

"I just kinda hope that if he kisses me, um... my foot pops. You know, in old films, whenever a girl gets seriously kissed, her foot would just kind of... pop."

Where we stayed

When it comes to date night ideas, John and I usually go for take-away movie nights at home, and occasionally cinema trips, so having a romantic night away was definitely a treat. I used my Red Letter Days voucher to book a one nights stay and dinner for two at The Fox Country Inn in High Wycombe. Set in a quiet, country location, it was so calm and relaxing. We loved that all you could hear was the sound of bird, and the occasional hum from the M40 (which is close enough to make it super easy to get to!)

The room

The Fox Country Inn was a great choice, and I am so pleased they are a Red Letter Days UK partner. The room was just the right size for a romantic getaway, beautifully finished and complete with all the amenities you need. It included a fridge, a safe, tea and coffee (plus biscuits, I mean, yay!) and of course a TV. We had a beautiful view from our window too! I was a bit disappointed there was only a shower as I love me a nice relaxing bubble bath but we still had an amazing time... and that bed was SO comfy (especially when you don't have a toddler trying to squeeze in the middle!)

Dinner for two

Dinner for two was included in my Red Letter Days voucher and we could choose a main and a glass of wine as part of the experience. The food was presented well and tasted fabulous. After spotting the daily special desert was a Bailey's cheesecake John had to try it, so we also treated ourselves to pudding! I had the most amazing (proper oozy) fondant. The food was so good, and the staff so lovely; that I'll forgive John for wanted to move. He went from romantically sitting opposite me to the side so he could see the football on the bar TV!

Added extras

Breakfast was included!

Much to my surprise we had continental breakfast included with our stay. Juices, teas, coffee, cereal, pastries, yoghurt and fruit were all available to choose from as part of our stay. We did decide to upgrade to have a full English breakfast too, however, which was just £5 each. An absolute bargain and SO yummy. A great way to start the day and finish our stay.

The bar

The bar was light and airy, with a choice of wonderfully comfy areas to sit and enjoy a drink and the company of whoever you decided to go with! John and I treated ourselves to a Magners (for him!) and a G&T (for me!) so we could start our stay by just relaxing and unwinding. No children to chase, no driving to do... it was perfect!

I had the most amazing romantic night away thanks to the Red Letter Days voucher and I cannot recommend it enough. From how easy the process of booking is, to the variety of experience day options, to how many different wonderful places you can choose to use your voucher, it really is the perfect gift idea. If you're looking for an awesome Mother's Day gift for your mama (or to treat yourself this Mother's Day!) then look no further than Red Letter Days.
