What to Pack for Your Dog for a Caravan Holiday
These days our holidays look a little different as we have Jessie along for the adventures. There is no such thing as being too prepared and having a tick list of what to pack for your pup will ensure they're comfortable, calm, and feel like your holiday is a home away from home.
Read on to discover my checklist which will help you ensure you’re not missing any of your dog’s essentials when holidaying with your fur baby. I've even included a tick sheet you can download and print to make your life super easy!

Food and water
Just like you, your dog needs to eat and drink. Most caravan parks will not provide anything for your dog, unlike the crockery and cutlery you may find for humans! Some key items you need to remember are:
Water bowl
Food bowl
Dog food
Dog biscuits and / or treats
Bonus: While most caravans have hard floors instead of carpet, a rubber mat or plastic tray can help to avoid food or water spillage and make mess easier to clean up.
Walking accessories
There will be pet policies for caravan and holiday parks which almost certainly will include a sentence regarding keeping dogs on leads and cleaning up their mess immediately. When it comes to walking your dog, some essentials to remember to pack are:
Lead
Collar
Harness
Lights for nighttime walks - both for your dog and a torch for you
Poo bags
Whistle for recall - for use in areas they can be off lead
Clicker - if you're clicker training
Coat
Suncream
Identity tag with contact details
N.B. Did you know that by law your dog must have a collar and tag on when you take them out the house? Avoid a £5k fine by not forgetting to pack your tag!
Home comforts
Staying away from home can be a big change for anyone, but especially your dog. To make sure they can enjoy time on holiday with you, a few recognisable home comforts are bound to help them settle in well:
Dog crate (if crate trained)
Dog bed
Dog blanket(s)
A few of your dog’s favourite toys
Bead collars and pretty tags (if like me you love them and they're a part of every day life!)
Grooming essentials
From muddy forest adventures to sandy beach days, there are tonnes of reasons your pup could come back messy (and matted if they have long hair!) Don't forget to pack these holiday grooming essentials:
Brush and / or comb
Shampoo
Towel(s)
Travel essentials
For the journey to your caravan holiday and of course when travelling to any days out from the holiday park itself, you'll need these car essentials:
Seat belt clip
Seat / boot protector
Travel sickness tablets
Other essentials
Some of your pets may need some extra items packed for them that our Jessie is fortunate enough not to need at the moment. For those of you with older dogs or those with additional needs, don't forget to pack:
Prescription meds
Mobility aids
With that, I conclude my list of essentials for your dog to join you on staycation explorations. I hope you have safe travels to wherever you're heading, and with this list are able to enjoy safe and happy moments with your per.
