TotsBots TeenyFit & PeeNut | Newborn Cloth Nappies UK

Disclaimer: I was sent a selection of TotsBots TeenyFit nappies, PeeNut wraps and other products in return for an honest review. The review words and opinions are my own. All photos are copyright property of Me Becoming Mum.

It's no secret that I'm a cloth bum mum… and that I love it. You'll have seen cloth mentioned in my essentials for newborns posts as well as my Sustainable Living category explaining how to use and care for cloth nappies (and other posts too!)

Having a newborn in cloth is so exciting and I am proud to be working with TotsBots to show you just how easy it is to use cloth from day one!

All about TotsBots TeenyFit

They're suitable for newborn babies

For anyone worried about cloth nappies being too big on a tiny baby bum, TotsBots gave you covered. The TotsBots TeenyFit nappies are suitable for babies from 5-12lbs. With adjustable velcro tabs at the top of the nappy they are just as easy to use as disposables and can adjust as your baby grows (unlike disposables!) Once they finally outgrow their TeenyFit nappies, however, you don't have to give up cloth. Simply move your wee one into EasyFit nappies and away you go!

The top sits just below the umbilical stump

I know I'm not the only parent to worry about the umbilical stump and how the healing process will happen with a nappy and clothing over the top. Thankfully TotsBots TeenyFit nappies sit just below the umbilical stump and belly button, allowing for air to get all around and speed up the healing process. This makes it a lot more comfortable for your baby while you wait for the stump to fall off.

TotsBots TeenyFit nappies (as with all their products!) come in the most amazing designs

As a brand, TotsBots have to come top of my list for the aesthetics of their cloth nappies. They are so, so cute and come in the brightest, most beautiful colours and patterns. From animals to rainbows, nature to beach themes, there is no shortage of choice when it comes to TotsBots nappies. The designs have the best names too… such as Pawfect and ChimPANTzee.

Each TeenyFit nappy saves 1 plastic bottle from landfill

Not only is cloth better for the environment because you're not sending nappies into landfill, but they're eco-friendly in their creation too. Each tiny little TeenyFit nappy you use saves one plastic bottle from going to landfill, repurposed within the waterproof outer part of the nappy.

All about TotsBots PeeNuts

The ultimate two-part nappy system

The TotsBots PeeNut system is my new favourite cloth nappy system bar none. Here are a few reasons why:

  • The system is so easy for both day and night cloth nappy use thanks to PeeNut pads and Bamboozle nappies (read below for more info!)

  • They have the best patterns including animals (penguins and giraffes: my girls’ favourite animals!) and even nursery rhymes.

  • They are unbeatable in terms of performance for both night time and car travel. I have not had any leak issues when using the PeeNut system.

  • The PeeNut wrap edging is soft and comfortable on delicate baby skin, not digging in, yet offering the best containment of both wee and poo… even diarrhoea!

  • The waterproof wrap uses 100% recycled plastic for the lining.

The PeeNut wraps can be used with PeeNut pads or a Bamboozle nappy

Use the PeeNut pad and PeeNut wrap for a quick and easy cloth nappy change. Simply use the poppers to attach the pad to the wrap and you’re ready for a quick and easy nappy change. The wrap can be used up to four times, so you don't need to buy as many, making this system a kind-to-your-wallet option.

If you want to have the best night time nappy around, the TotsBots Bamboozle combined with a PeeNut wrap is definitely your best option. In fact, I love this system so much after being gifted a couple to try (Giggleraff and Nappy Feet) I bought 3 more sets to use (Smelliphant, ChimPANTzee and I’m a Little Teapot).

Reasons I love TotsBots

Their waterproof fabric is made from 100% recycled plastic waste

You may have seen my previous posts about cloth nappies, so you will know I'm not exactly new to the world of cloth. What is new to me, is the extra steps TotsBots are taking to be even more eco-friendly. Their waterproof fabric is made from 100% recycled plastic waste.

  • Each TeenyFit contains one plastic bottle.

  • Each EasyFit contains two plastic bottles.

The waterproof layer was previously made using virgin polyester yarn. However, thanks to an innovative specially developed new fabric; it’s now made from supersoft recycled polyester yarn derived from plastic bottle waste. Not only was is designed specifically for TotsBots, it meets the highest safety certifications (meaning it has no chemicals or nasties going near your baby's bum!) and they were the first company in the world to lead the way with this new approach.

TotsBots nappies are made in the UK

Not only is cloth better for the environment but supporting local, UK businesses has a better carbon footprint too! Plus, buying from TotsBots supports not just our local economy, but other local businesses too; who TotsBots aim to use (when possible) for production, packaging and shipping.

They come in the cutest prints

I love how bright my a-frame or washing line looks when I hang out my TotsBots nappies to dry. I have a variety of rainbow TeenyFit nappies, animal PeeNut wraps, pads and Bamboozle nappies and other nappies too. Some I was sent, some I bought, but all I love!

Cloth nappies are the ultimate hand-me-down

Whilst I still love to invest in a new nappy (or ten) because there is always a gorgeous new print being released, the beat part about using cloth is the fact they are reusable. Obviously. Not only can future siblings use the nappies (my three have all used some of the nappies in my stash!) but you can pass them on to others too. One of my favourite TotsBots prints “Chatterbots” was released within their 2018 range. I loved it then but didn’t have a baby for the nappy, now I do and managed to find it on eBay!

TotsBots are a family run business

No one knows what works best for babies better than parents who have been there. The husband and wife team behind TotsBots started their business because they wanted to make a positive impact on the environment as well as their wallets. They made cloth nappies and used them for their own children; and now ship their products worldwide.

There are so many reasons to love cloth, and so many ways that TotsBots can help you get started on your cloth nappy journey. I hope this post has helped make your decision a little easier; and you are ready to take that first leap into the world of sustainable, reusable, eco-friendly parenting.
