Valentine's Day is not the first celebration of the year for John and me, with birthdays to celebrate in January. That doesn't mean it's not a great excuse to find a gift or two and spend some time as a couple (something I think is especially important once you have children!). Here are a few top gift ideas for the love of your life this Valentine's Day.

"A balanced diet is a chocolate in both hands."

Box of chocolates

It might be cliché, but who doesn't love a box full of chocolates?  Some of us (me included) have allergies though so you have to be a bit more careful with your buying selection. With this fantastic Valentine's assorted chocolate box* from Yumbles you need not worry. They have a large selection of free-from products including this gift box; which is not only vegan-friendly, but also soya and gluten free. They also taste amazing. You can explore a range of vegan gifts at Yumbles and treat your partner to some this Valentine's Day… You're sure to put a smile on their face.

"I don't have a problem with caffeine, I have a problem without it."

Personalised mug

I love my husband, and he love coffee (almost as much as he loves me and the children I think!) The ideal gift this Valentine's Day definitely comes in the form of this lovely personalised "A husband is for life" mug* from The Gift Experience. When I was looking through their website I found so many wonderful gift ideas, but this is not only practical, personalised and perfect for John; but also made me giggle too! He is such a big part of my life, and now he'll never forget it.

Insulated reusable travel mug

How cold are these icy winter mornings at the moment? With the threat of snow (and actual snow in some places!) a hot brew is essential to warm ourselves up for the school run or journey to work. Why not treat your better half to a Klean Kanteen stainless steel coffee tumbler* which really do keep your drinks hot, steamy and ready to drink for hours. They also come in a large range of styles and colours which allow you to choose the right one for your other half (or yourself, I highly recommend them!)

"Drink responsibly means don't spill it!"

Non-alcoholic wine alternative

There are so many reasons people choose not to (or can't) drink alcohol. From being pregnant or on medication to religious reasons. That's doesn't mean having a special drink on occasions like Valentine's Day can't be for them as well! I have recently had the chance to test out the lush Botonique*. They are so yummy, with a little sparkling touch whilst being alcohol free. My favourite is the Blush which they say goes perfect with afternoon tea (one of my favourite treats!) I've enjoyed it with a number of dishes and it is such a nice accompaniment to pretty much everything... fresh and lovely and adding a little something-something to every meal.

“Photography is the story I fail to put into words.”

Memories of a life together

A photobook is a great way to store all the memories and special times you have had together in the perfect gift. When I was working as a brand ambassador for Cheerz last year I got to review a number of their fabulous products but by far my favourite are the photobooks you can make. They allow you to customise everything from the shape and size to your photos, text, layout and how many pages you want. Plus my brand ambassador discount code NAOMIXCHEERZ will give you £5 off any order over £10 until April 2019!

"The most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy, it's all that matters."

The Book of Everyone*

If you want a unique gift that includes memories and facts about your other half's life then look no further than The Book of Everyone*. It is so easy to put together, comes with so many interesting facts including the musical number one on their day of birth and so much more. Add messages from you and little personalised touches throughout and it is bound to ensure your other half has not only an interesting read but a smile on their face this Valentine's Day.

“I fell in love with you because of a million small things you didn’t realise you were doing.”

Love notes from all over the world

There is something amazing about getting a gift that some serious thought has gone into, and this one won’t cost you a penny… it will simply cost you a bit of time. If you have Twitter send out some tweets asking for help, or ask people you know are traveling to different places around the world. Print them and create an album or even pop them in a photobook to keep them forever.

"In life, it's not where you go, but who you travel with."

A romantic getaway

There is nothing more special than being able to have a bit of time away, just the two of you. This is particularly true for those of us that have children.  John and I made a pact last year to make more time for "just us" starting with me taking him away for the weekend. We stayed in the hotel where we held our wedding reception and spent our wedding night and it was so good to have some couple time as well as enjoy the memories we have at the venue.

Holiday accessories

If you're going away, the perfect Valentine's Day gift idea could be as simple as accessories for your holiday. Regardless of whether you're heading abroad or sticking around for a staycation, you don't want sand ruining any romantic beach ventures. Getting your other half a sand-free towel* like mine from Tesalate; is the perfect solution. I love my Tesalate sand-free beach towel and they offer an amazing selection of pattern choices to suit every personality. Plus, perfect for a romantic couples holiday they have released some brand new designs made for two! The best part is that Tesalate have offered for my readers to get 15% off their purchases using code MEBECOMINGMUM15!

"Clothes won't change the world, the people who wear them will."

Season suitable clothing

This time of year is not exactly a lovely warm climate in the U.K. Help your other half keep walm while looking and feeling fab-u-lous with some new season suitable clothes. I found some gorgeous new knitwear in the Primark sale for just £5, so if you don't have to break the bank to look awesome.

Smart new accessories

John has lost quite a bit of weight since we moved to Watford. Mostly this is due to him scootering to and from work but it does mean a lot of his old accessories no longer fit. If you want to go for a more practical gift for Valentine's Day, a gorgeous new belt like this faux leather Diesel belt* from Mainline Menswear is the perfect choice. In a number of sizes from 30" to 40" and a lovely matte dark brown this belt will go with so many outfits and help the man in your life look dapper always.

Impractical but gorgeous lingerie

I'm not going to lie, I mostly wear the most practical underwear possible... but sometimes it is nice to mix it up. Although there are some lovely lingerie brands on the market, you can't go wrong with a beautiful, budget friendly set from Primark. They do an amazing selection of sexy lingerie, perfect for spicing up any dull underwear drawer!

“A perfume is an invisible yet unforgettable accessory.”

4711 eau de cologne*

Sometimes you just need something you can guarantee will suit pretty much everyone. Muelhens has created 4711, a unisex scent with a blend of citrus oils lemon & orange, light floral rose, and sandalwood oil. It is such a lovely scent, and both John and I agree it would work well on different people so they're on to a winner. So whoever you're buying for him or for her it's definitely worth checking out 4711. The 4711 eau de cologne* is available at selected Boots stores and also online on Amazon†.

"My bed is my happy place"

Personalised his and hers pillow cases

I love personlised gifts, especially ones that are practical. My bed is one of my favourite places in the house from it's memory foam mattress to the monochrome colour theme. I can't be the only one who has "their side" no matter who else (children or husband!) is in the bed with them, right?

Getting a gift for Valentine's Day like these personalised his and hers pillowcases* from The Gift Experience is right up my street... and should remind John where he is supposed to sleep (even if he rolls to my side in the night!

Whether you are a big fan of Valentine's Day or not, there are so many options for the perfect gift. I hope my Valentine's Day gift guide has helped you with a few ideas. Plus, now you know you don't have to break the bank, or buy gifts just for the sake of it.  They can be useful, budget friendly and still say a massive, "I love you" to that special person in your life.
