The Mother's Day UK date is nearly upon us. Baby brain, trips into hospital and of course lockdown 3.0 have meant I missed most of the count down to Mother's Day on March 14th. That being said, I couldn’t let it pass by without sharing Mother's Day gift ideas to help you give your mum a very happy Mother's Day, in spite of lockdown!

The small things that can make a big difference

Go for a walk

Lockdown has left all of us inside, and for many cabin fever and boredom can be a huge mental strain. Getting outside for a walk can help to blow off the cobwebs, and give you an escape from everything for a little while. It also has the added bonus of helping youngsters run off their excess energy (children having an early night is good for mum too!) As the weather begins to take a turn for the better there is nothing nicer than getting out for some fresh air.

Let her have a lie in

For all the partners out there - this one is a gift from you. Get the children up, dressed, fed and quietly entertained and allow their mum to have a lie in. This will be particularly appreciated by pregnant mums-to-be like me. Pregnancy insomnia, needing to pee all the time and lovely nausea and vomiting (why do they call it morning sickness? That's a lie!) and more can be a nightmare and when you have other children the early starts are a killer. A lie-in and chance to catch up on rest will never be sniffed at.

Do the household chores

Including the cooking!

If you're old enough, do things to help mum around the house. No one is too young to clean up after themselves, and there are plenty of jobs which can be allocated to children of all ages. Plus, with restaurants, pubs, and cafes shut meaning meals out are also off the table, but that doesn’t mean you can't make Mother's Day special. Pick out your mum's favourite food, and whip up her favourite meal for dinner or why not treat her to breakfast in bed as a surprise?

Organise a video call

Thanks to lockdown restrictions, unless you live with them you’re unlikely to see your mum on Mother's Day. That doesn’t mean you can't organise a get together via Zoom, Microsoft Meets or even WhatsApp! I haven’t met my nephew yet, and the only family photos we have of all of us look a little like this at the moment… but that is better than nothing!

Homemade cards and handwritten letters

This doesn’t just have to be for the little ones, but obviously mine love to get stuck in for arts and crafts. The reality is most of us won't have a chance to see our mums this year thanks to lockdown restrictions so sending a little card or gift handmade with love is sure to be appreciated by every mum.

Gift ideas you can buy for mum

Treats for gin lovers

We all know how good a Buyagift voucher is when you're stuck for gift ideas. However, did you know that they do more than just vouchers? I absolutely love the Buyagift Gin and Treats Hamper* full of pink gin and goodies, ideal for any mum who loves a little tipple. Inside this hamper your mum will get:
  • 2 Manchester Raspberry Infused Gin with Franklin & Sons Premium Indian Tonic Water

  • Choc-affair Rhubarb Gin Milk Chocolate Bar

  • Joe & Seph's Gin & Tonic Popcorn

  • Radfords The Sugar Mill Pink Gin Fudge

  • Dean's Extra Mature Cheddar and Caramelised Red Onion Bites

Don't you agree, it's the perfect gift?

Bring the pub home for beer lovers

Many of us are missing the chance to go for a pint with our friends, so why not bring the pub to your mum instead? With a beautiful range of unique beer steins*, Cuckooclocks.com can do just that. Whether they love a simple pint or a visit to Octoberfest these beer steins are bound to make a great gift this Mother's Day. Plus, they are offering you the chance to grab a 10% discount on me! Use code "beerathome" at checkout, (valid until April 2nd) to order your very own beer stein to enjoy your beer at home.

Something special for food lovers

I love to cook (when John's not cooking) and some of my favourite meals are Italian. If you're looking for a unique Mother's Day gift to suit a mum like me who loves to get creative in the kitchen, why not check out the vintage Balsamic Vinegar from ilGusto* to help mum make her favourite dishes at home from salads to bruchetta and even deserts like balsamic strawberries. If this isn't really your mum's thing, don't worry. ilGusto have a range of flavoured spirits from gin to vodka as well as their range if oils and vinegars, so you're bound to find something your mum loves!

Alternative gifts for tech lovers

How many times have you misplaced your phone, wallet or keys? I think these days it's easier to locate your face covering when you go out than the items you in theory always need. With thanks to Tile* your mum can be sure to track down the missing item in no time. The performance pack makes a great gift for Mother's Day. It includes 1 pro and 1 slim and can be ordered in a variety of designs from black or white to lovely patterns perfect for your mum.

Skin care at home for pamper lovers

If you've been around a while you'll know I love to have a bit of a pamper from spa days to simply getting my nails done professionally. Sadly with most places shut during the pandemic, pamper sessions have to be done at home these days. Why not treat your mum to some products from Bioderma? From the Atoderm Shower Gel* which helps leave her smooth, and soft (and is suitable for sensitive skin too!) to the Atoderm hand cream* ideal for sore, dry hands (which many of us have thanks to the excessive washing and use of antibacterial hand sanitiser!) there is something available for ever mum in this range.

DIY kits for bath lovers

Baths are one of my favourite ways to relax, and are even better if they have huge amounts of bubbles or fun bath bombs to enjoy. Mix up Mother's Day gifts for your mum this year with a So Bomb DIY Light Up pack. If you wanted to, you could even buy the kit and make the bombs for your mum ahead of the day and let her have a lovely soak on Mother's Day. The best part is you can order them on Amazon† with Prime delivery so they'll arrive to your mum quick as a flash.

So, there you go! Now you now have a few ideas for celebrating UK Mother's Day 2021 as well as a few gifts to boot. Mother' Day gifts and ideas to treat your mum this year don't have to break the bank - trust me she'll just be grateful you thought of her. After the year we've all had (surviving remote learning and more) she deserves a treat.

All that is left to say is, to all the mamas out there:

Happy Mother's Day!
